1. How do I know if I qualify for assistance?
A:To qualify, your annual income must be within the figures outlined by USDA for low income families.
2. How do I apply for assistance?
A:You must bring the required and current documents to H.E.L.P. Inc. at 53 South 6th Street, Banning, CA 92220. The required documents are the following: a photo ID, your social security number and proof of income. Next, you will be given the Client Application Form to complete. Once we have all your documents and the completed form, you will be entered into our computer system.
3. How do I make a monetary donation to H.E.L.P. Inc.?
A:We gladly accept checks which can be either mailed or personally delivered to our location. You may also go to How To Donate: Online Donations where you can donate online directly from this website using PayPal (you do not have to have a PayPal account to make a donation).
4. How do I donate to the Thrift Store?
A:Thrift Store donations may be brought to the back door of our building during regular business hours as posted: Monday thru Thursday 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. - Noon.
The Thrift Store accepts clean and useable clothing for men, women and children; jewelry; antiques; small household and electrical items; seasonal items; small travel accessories; bedding; linens; outerwear, including sleeping bags; and sports items. Please note: We are unable to accept large pieces of furniture of any variety.
5. Do you accept food donations?
A:We welcome food donations of canned food products with the appropriate "use by" date. Packaged food is also accepted. Fresh fruits and vegetables are accepted as the growing season permits.
Please bring your food donations to the back door of our location during regular business hours as posted: Monday thru Thursday 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. - Noon.
6. How do I volunteer at H.E.L.P. Inc.?
A:We invite interested men and women to come to our location at 53 South 6th Street, Banning, CA 92220, and complete the Volunteer Application Form.
Shifts are 3 hours, either morning or afternoon during the posted business hours of operation (Monday thru Friday 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. - Noon).
Volunteer opportunities include the following: working the Intake Desk, which requires computer experience; working in the Thrift Store; or working in the Warehouse / Food Pantry.
You may wish to download and complete the Volunteer Application Form and bring it with you to our location.
7. Which cities must clients reside in order to receive food from H.E.L.P. Inc.?
A:You must reside in one of the following service cities (zip codes): Banning, including Poppet Flats (92220), Beaumont (92223), Cabazon (92230), Calimesa (92320), Cherry Valley (92223), or Whitewater (92282).
